Recap from our Second Term Open Day – February 14, 2025.

On Friday, February 14, 2025, our school welcomed parents for an engaging Open Day event that embraced both returning families and new faces. While the official start time was set for 10 a.m., eager parents began arriving early, with some attending to their children as early as 8 a.m., gracefully balancing their work commitments with their children’s education.

The feedback from parents was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed their delight at the substantial academic improvements observed in their children since joining our school. Admirable behaviors were highlighted, showcasing not only academic growth but also personal development. However, we did acknowledge concerns regarding some students facing significant learning gaps in reading and spelling. Understanding these challenges, the teaching staff and the head of school addressed parents’ fears with reassurance, emphasizing our commitment to nurturing every child’s potential. We are confident that through continuous learning and support, all students will exceed their expectations.

In total, we had 109 parents in attendance, each bringing a unique perspective and a shared interest in their child’s progress. Our dedicated teaching staff engaged with parents in meaningful discussions, providing personalized feedback on each child’s learning style, love languages, and targeted goals for the term. This interaction created an atmosphere of collaboration, allowing parents to feel more connected to their child’s educational journey.

The day was further enriched with dynamic activities, including interviews conducted by Miss Mercy with several parents, such as Mrs. Samuel and Mr. Emmanuel, allowing them to voice their experiences and suggestions. The event also featured joyful picture sessions, capturing the spirit of community between parents and teachers.

As the sun began to set, our Open Day culminated around 4 p.m., leaving a lasting impression on everyone. The connections made and the insights shared are just the beginning of a transformative term ahead at White Cotton School.
